Jim Ross acknowledges his career may be over with brain surgery on horizon
If his announcing days are over, JR hopes AEW gives him a “good, clean ending.”
Jim Ross said this week that his AEW contract will end soon, and he added that his announcing days may already be over.
On the Thursday episode of his Grilling JR podcast, the legendary commentator said that while he wants a proper send-off into retirement, he would accept his fate if his AEW boss Tony Khan decided his services were no longer needed.
Before he and co-host Conrad Thompson got onto the subject of his contract, they spoke about Ross’ health. The WWE Hall of Famer has missed significant time from his duties on the AEW announce desk due to a prolonged hospitalization.
Jim Ross To Undergo Brain Surgery On August 12
Back in early July, Ross revealed that he was scheduled to undergo brain surgery in the near future. Now, the legendary commentator has disclosed the official date for his procedure.
“I got a big week coming up. My surgery is this Wednesday in Norman.” Jim Ross said on the latest episode of Grilling JR. “I don’t way to say I’m looking forward to it, but I guess I really am to get to that point and get it over with. I’ve never had brain surgery before. They’re going to put what they call a shunt, so I’m getting a shunt put in my brain. They say I’m only going to be in the hospital for a day. That surprised me and made me happy, but still, I would’ve guessed longer.”
