Casas likely done for season after arthroscopic left wrist surgery
BOSTON — Triston Casas’ attempt to come back this season is very likely over.
The 26-year-old first baseman’s string of injuries probably ended hopes for any playing time after he underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left wrist, the team announced Thursday.
Dr. Matthew Leibman at Newton-Wellesley Surgery Center in Wellesley performed the procedure.
“He’s had a handful of different ailments this year with the wrist. It was there for a while, lingering,” interim manager Chad Tracy said before Thursday’s series finale at Fenway Park against the Chicago White Sox.
“I guess the initial part of that was conservative treatment to see if they could get it better,” he said. “They just felt the conservative treatment wasn’t working and they were going to do surgical intervention to fix it.”
