Fight at Publix parking lot leads to charges for two Bay County men
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Two men are facing charges after a fight broke out in the parking lot of a Publix on Highway 231 in Panama City, according to a Panama City Police affidavit.
Everette Kirchbabum and James Gay are each charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Both men were injured in the fight and transported to the hospital.
According to the affidavit, Kirchbabum and a woman were in the Publix parking lot when Gay — the woman’s ex-boyfriend — drove up and an argument broke out. Kirchbabum reportedly displayed a hatchet to deter Gay. Instead of stopping, Gay retrieved a machete from his car.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/Gray News) – Two men were taken to the hospital and later arrested after getting into a machete fight in a Publix parking lot.
The Washington Sheriff’s Office said Everette Krichbabum and James Tristian Gay were arrested after the fight on Tuesday.
Panama City Police said Krichbabum and Gay got into a verbal argument that quickly escalated and turned into a physical fight. Both men were allegedly armed with “fixed-blade weapons.”
According to newly obtained arrest documents, investigators said Gay, 35, was the primary aggressor.
The arrest affidavit said witnesses claimed Krichbabum was in his car when Gay drove up and stopped near him.
