More than 100,000 utility customers are without power July 27
More than 120,000 people are without power throughout Wisconsin, including 40,000 in Milwaukee County alone, as severe storms and at least one confirmed tornado blew through large portions of the state Monday, July 27.
As of about 4:00 p.m., 126,336 utility customers did not have power, according to We Energies' real-time online outage map. The majority of those customers, around 63,000 of them, are based in Milwaukee and Outagamie counties.
Although the storms caused widespread outages a portion of them were not weather-related.
Monday morning, around 18,000 customers in Milwaukee area lost power due to a malfunctioning piece of equipment at one of the company's substations, Director of Media Relations for WEC Energy Group Brendan Conway told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. He said crew members are working on two outages within the station and hope to restore power in the affected areas by 6:30 p.m.
Power being restored in the Northwoods after Monday morning storms
EAGLE RIVER, Wis. (WSAW) – Crews are continuing to restore power in the Northwoods after strong storms knocked out power for thousands of Wisconsin Public Service and Xcel Energy customers Monday morning.
As of 12:30 p.m., Poweroutage.us reported about 1,100 customers without service in Oneida County and about 6,800 without service in Vilas County.
WPS has already made progress this morning in Oneida County– which had outages affecting more than 5,000 around 9 a.m.

Thousands of We Energies customers in Milwaukee County without power
MILWAUKEE – The We Energies outage map showed more than 18,000 customers without power on Monday morning, Jul 27.
"Crews are in the area investigating the cause of the outages. Once the cause is identified, they will work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible," said We Energies. "We will continue to update the online outage map with the latest information."
We Energies encourages anyone who experiences a power outage to report it as soon as it occurs in one of three ways: online, through the app or by calling 1-800-662-4797.
