An Unusual-Looking Raccoon Nicknamed Jimothy Is Winning Hearts Across the Internet for His Short, Round Body
The creature, affectionately nicknamed “Jimothy,” likely has a congenital spine condition that has given him a short, round body. Otherwise, experts say the animal seems to be healthy as he scampers around Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.
Kiana Hall, a 33-year-old marketing specialist, is the one responsible for Jimothy’s recent fame. She was out for an evening walk with her husband on July 13, when she spotted an animal moving beneath a car. At first, she expected it to be a cat but quickly realized she was wrong.
“I was pretty surprised and confused, because the body shape didn’t look like anything I was familiar with,” Hall tells TODAY’s Kimmy Yam. “He turned around and I saw that masked pattern on the front of his face, and that’s when I realized he was a raccoon.”
