Acton marches in Marietta Fourth of July parade, talks unity and Ohio roots
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) – Ohio Democratic gubernatorial nominee Dr. Amy Acton spent the Fourth of July in Marietta, marching in the city’s holiday parade and making the case that the state’s history — and a renewed push for unity — should help guide the race to November.
“I am so honored to be here celebrating our nation’s 250th in the oldest, most historic place in Ohio, in Marietta,” Acton said. “We’ve been here a few times, so we’re getting to know everyone very well.”
Acton pointed to Marietta’s role as the first permanent settlement in the Northwest Territory — founded in 1788 — as a point of pride for southeast Ohio.
