John McEnroe was forced to leave his BBC commentary position during Arthur Fery's match against Grigor Dimitrov at Wimbledon. The American was alongside Andrew Cotter and Tim Henman in the BBC commentary box when he had to step away from his duties.
Fery, the final British player remaining in either the men's or women's singles field, had taken the opening set 7-5. However, his far more seasoned rival fought back to secure the second, 6-3, and third, 6-4.
Fery opted for an extended toilet break between the second and third sets, during which time McEnroe made a quick departure. "I think we're going to have to bid farewell at this point," Cotter informed viewers. "John McEnroe to take a break, never to return."
