Extreme heat, humidity to bring feels-like temps into 100s
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you got out to enjoy the weather today….because later this week that’ll be a bit difficult.
Today was warm with lower humidity, and you could feel it! The rest of this evening temperatures will mostly stick to the 70s with overnight lows in the low 60s. Skies look mostly clear overnight, too.
Tuesday will be brighter in the morning than the afternoon but dry during the day. Farther inland it’ll be a very warm day near 90 degrees, but at the coast we’ll stick to the 80s.
The extreme and dangerous heat begins Wednesday. The National Weather Service in Boston has issued an extreme heat watch during that time for the combination of high heat and humidity creating dangerously high heat indices in the triple digits.
Worcester could see some of its hottest weather ever this week
The National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat alert for all of Central Massachusetts, with temperatures in Worcester possibly hitting triple digits later this week.
The week will start with typical summer conditions. The high temperature Monday, June 29, in Worcester was expected to reach the mid-80s under sunny skies.
By Tuesday, June 30, the reading is expected to hit about 90 degrees. The National Weather Service expects temperatures to reach the upper 90s Wednesday, July 1, and is currently forecasting triple-digit highs in Worcester Thursday, July 2.
The highest temperature ever recorded in the city was 102 degrees, back in 1911.
The National Weather Service said Monday morning, June 29, that there is about a 60% chance Worcester will reach 100 degrees and about a 40% to 50% chance of reaching 102. There is a 30% chance of reaching 103 degrees and setting a new heat record.
