Public health alert issued for chicken sold at popular grocery store in the Tri-State area
CINCINNATI (WKRC) – A public health alert was issued for chicken sold at a popular grocery store chain in the Tri-State area.
According to a release from the Food Safety and Inspection Service, a public health alert was issued for chicken sold under the Private Selection brand at Kroger and Fred Meyer stores in nine states, including Indiana and Kentucky.
The specific product affected by the alert was "Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat" with a best by date of June 28, 2026 and the lot code "15326A."
A store employee reportedly discovered that the product had an incorrect label applied to the back of it, which included the nutrition facts and ingredient statement. The incorrect ingredients failed to include eggs, a known allergen that were present in the product.

PSA: Public Health Alert Issued For Raw Chicken Breast Sold At Stores In Nine States
Kroger shoppers, it’s time to check your fridges. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has issued a public health alert for the store’s raw boneless chicken breast products. The chicken products were misbranded and, as a result, include an undeclared allergen that could be especially serious for those with severe allergies.
The chicken products contain eggs, which are not declared on the product label. While a recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase, they could still be lurking in your fridge or freezer.
The items affected were produced on June 2, 2026, and include 21-ounce vacuum-packed packages of Private Selection Honey Dijon Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts with Rib Meat with a best if used by date of June 28, 2026, lot code 15326A, and establishment number P-45288B.
