'Motor City,' Detroit-set action thriller, debuts new trailer online
That's the language used in the new trailer for "Motor City," the largely wordless Detroit-set action thriller that rolls into theaters July 24.
The new trailer, which debuted online on Thursday, sets the scene for the '70s-set crime caper, which stars Alan Ritchson, Shailene Woodley, Pablo Schreiber and Ben Foster. Watch it here:
In the movie, Alan Ritchson ("Reacher") stars as John Miller, a man seeking revenge after he's released from prison. The movie features only a few words of dialogue, and otherwise lets the action do the talking.
The trailer features Bill Withers' "Lovely Day" and transitions into Jack White's "Archbishop Harold Holmes." White provides the film's score, and the soundtrack also features songs by David Bowie, Donna Summer, Fleetwood Mac, the Moody Blues and more.

Potsy Ponciroli's new action thriller Motor City features Alan Ritchson of Reacher fame in one of his most challenging roles yet, as its narrative unfolds with a quirk that is particularly unusual for the action genre. Ritchson leads a star-studded cast that includes Shailene Woodley, Ben Foster, Pablo Schreiber, and Ben McKenzie in a movie that is almost experimental despite featuring many familiar action tropes. An ultra-violent quest for revenge certainly isn't anything groundbreaking, especially with the modern popularity of John Wick-style vengeance thrillers. However, what separates Motor City from the rest is how Ponciroli chose to tell the story. While the very best action movies are typically light on dialogue, Ponciroli takes it to the extreme to craft a story that lets Ritchson shine in doing what he does best.
