Should I Invest in DRAM Right Now?

The Roundhill Memory ETF (DRAM +1.01%) is easily one of the most successful exchange-traded fund (ETF) launches in years. By capturing the relatively undervalued artificial intelligence (AI) memory theme before it took off, the fund has delivered a 191% return since its debut in early April. It now has more than $21 billion in assets.

The results are driven heavily by three stocks. Here they are with their year-to-date returns as of June 19:

These three stocks combined account for 72% of the portfolio. The fund has just 15 holdings overall.

The bullish case for the Roundhill Memory ETF is pretty straightforward. AI requires huge amounts of memory. Supply hasn't been able to keep up with demand, and that's driven prices significantly higher. Roundhill calls the AI memory theme a "secular growth story tied to the multi-decade build-out of AI infrastructure."

Micron Earnings And An IPO Put This ETF Back In The Spotlight With 190% Gains

Rather than owning broad semiconductor funds, investors are increasingly using memory ETFs to target what many see as the next phase of the AI buildout.

DRAM’s largest holdings include SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, and Micron, companies at the center of a memory market benefiting from surging demand for AI servers. The ETF has emerged as a focused way to gain exposure to high-bandwidth memory, a critical component used in advanced AI systems.

The prospect of a Nasdaq listing for SK Hynix could provide another tailwind for memory-focused ETFs.

The South Korean chipmaker reportedly filed confidentially with the Securities and Exchange Commission in March and has lined up Citigroup, JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, and Bank of America to manage the offering. If completed, the listing would rank among the largest U.S. IPOs in recent years and give American investors direct access to one of the most important suppliers in the AI supply chain.

Double-leverage products of DRAM (Round Hill Memory) ETF, which has become a sensation in the U.S. exchange-traded fund (ETF) industry this year, will be listed on the 24th.

According to U.S. asset manager RexShares, the "Round Hill T-Rex 2x Long DRAM Daily Target" will start trading on the U.S. stock market on the 24th (local time).

It's the first product to follow DRAM ETF shares by doubling daily. The name of the ticker is 'RAM'.

The DRAM ETF, launched in April, is considered the most successful debut case in the history of U.S. ETFs.

As of the 22nd (local time), DRAM ETF boasts $23.4 billion (36 trillion won) worth of operating assets. It has captured the hearts of local investors by investing heavily in memory-related stocks such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, Micron, SanDisk, and Kioxia.
