Gareth Bale launches sports investment fund with Juggernaut Capital
Welsh soccer star Gareth Bale has teamed up with Juggernaut Capital Partners to launch the Juggernaut Sports Fund. The new private equity vehicle is targeting more than $500M in funding. It will target teams and leagues; youth sports; womenâs sports and golf/hospitality/experiential. Juggernaut, which had $1.2B in assets under management at the end of March, has previously invested in 3STEP, KemperSports and Thrill One Sports & Entertainment, the parent company of TK (Chris Smith, SBJ).
Gareth Bale eyes football club investment via new fund
Gareth Bale has reiterated his desire to buy a football club after launching a new sports investment fund and has refused to rule out making a fresh move for Cardiff City.
The former Real Madrid and Wales star was frustrated last summer when Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan rejected an offer from the investment group Bale was working with to take control of his hometown club.
Bale, who retired from playing in January 2023, has now formed a sports fund with American private equity firm Juggernaut Capital, which plans to invest in teams and leagues in both men's and women's sports.
"It's about being patient, finding the right club, and the right path for us to take," Bale told US media organisation Front Office Sports.

Legendary soccer player Gareth Bale has launched a new sports investment fund, and is still hoping to buy Welsh soccer club Cardiff City despite being previously rebuffed, he told Front Office Sports.
The fund, which Bale is launching with private-equity firm Juggernaut Capital Partners, is called Juggernaut Diversified Sports. It will invest in teams and leagues in both men’s and women’s sports, including soccer clubs, as well as youth sports. The geographic focus will be North America and Europe. Juggernaut founder John Shulman wouldn’t share the size of the fund, but said it will be smaller than $1 billion, drawing a contrast between other recently launched megafunds that buy small stakes in pro teams that already have high valuations, and how Juggernaut aims to invest.
