The Strokes’ new album is delayed
Reality Awaits, and I guess so do we. The Strokes have pushed back the release date of their seventh studio album from June 26 to July 24. The group already previewed the project, their first full-length since 2020’s The New Abnormal, with the Auto-Tuned singles “Going Shopping” and “Falling Out of Love” and a big, politically-charged Coachella performance. No reason for the delay has been revealed. However, it’s been announced that the band’s longtime guitarist, Nick Valensi, is “taking a temporary break” from touring with the Strokes after a November fallout with frontman Julian Casablancas.
Bereft fans may be comforted, though, by the addition of a mammoth new concert to the band’s summer and fall tour dates. The show will take place at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in New York City, where the group originated, and will feature Beach House, TV On The Radio, and Fcukers as supporting acts. The Strokes announced the additional show on Instagram with the caption, “Let’s go Knicks.” Their tour begins this weekend in Tennessee and carries across through October.

Reality Awaits, The Strokes' long-awaited seventh album, will now be released on July 24th
The Strokes have announced that their new album Reality Awaits will be delayed by a month, now scheduled to be released on July 24th. They’ve also announced a special hometown New York City show at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens on October 2nd. Beach House, TV on the Radio, and Fcukers will support.
Tickets for The Strokes’ October 2nd New York City show will first be available via an artist pre-sale running on Wednesday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. EST; fans can sign up HERE to gain pre-sale access. Tickets will go on sale for the general public on Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. EST via the band’s official website.
