‘The Vampire Lestat’ Stars Compare Louis & Lestat’s Narrations (VIDEO)
The Vampire Lestat is here, and it’s as chaotic as the mind of its narrator. Narrator Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) delivered prolonged, heady thoughts in Interview With the Vampire Seasons 1 and 2. Narrator Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid) has little interest in investigating the past like his ex in Season 3. In fact, he’s actively fighting against it. Vampire documentarian Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian) won’t let him get away with this, but Lestat’s own psyche is even more of an obstacle.
After centuries of running from his trauma and conflating ignoring your problems with endurance, Lestat is being forced to take a long, hard look at the formative events of his immortal life. And this new narrative structure will result in a lot more present-day scenes in this adaptation, which is a departure from the source material. ‘Interview With the Vampire’ Transforms Into ‘The Vampire Lestat’ for a Gloriously Glam Season 3: TV Review
Throughout the third season of AMC’s “Interview With the Vampire,” characters speak with equal parts dread, anticipation and awe of something called the “Great Transformation.” The phrase has its own meaning within Anne Rice’s lush, grandiose world of bloodsuckers and spell-casters as interpreted by creator and showrunner Rolin Jones. But it’s also a meta description of the show, which has undergone a remodel to accompany a change in perspective so total it extends to the name. “Interview With the Vampire” is (un)dead. Long live “The Vampire Lestat.”
Overhauls of established, well-liked shows are high-risk endeavors. Just this past week, HBO’s “Euphoria” ended on a sour note, having taken a high-school show and unsuccessfully reimagined it as a neo-Western. But turning “Interview With the Vampire” into a mock documentary centered on the title character (Sam Reid), who’s simply decided to become a rock star in his third century of existence, isn’t as big a leap for the series as it sounds. “Interview” has always indulged in excess and a flair for the dramatic, qualities channeled just as well by the onetime French aristocrat’s new Iggy Pop persona as they were by last season’s vampiric theater troupe. Perhaps even better: as “The Vampire Lestat” reaches new heights of operatic emotion and gleeful depravity, music starts to feel like a way to express what mere words and images cannot.

The already great Interview With The Vampire enters its vibrant Vampire Lestat era
If AMC’s Interview With The Vampire has proved one thing since its 2022 debut, it’s that in the right hands, Anne Rice’s dense gothic horror novels are better suited for a lengthy TV adaptation. Sorry to the fans of Neil Jordan’s 1994 movie adaptation, but creator-showrunner Rolin Jones’ televised saga of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Jacob Anderson) and Lestat de Lioncourt (Sam Reid)—one full of passionate romance, freaky sex, pent-up rage, wild secrets, intense yearning, and a lot of heart—gives Rice’s work a superior contemporary spin. No wonder AMC bet on Interview With The Vampire paid off with an actual Immortal Universe franchise, even if Mayfair Witches and the now-canceled Talamasca: The Secret Order don’t come close to IWTV‘s intense, captivating flair.
