Riot Fest 2026 lineup: Everything you need to know
CHICAGO – The independently run festival announced its 2026 dates earlier this year, with the event scheduled for Sept. 18-20.
The festival typically draws around 50,000 attendees per day and features more than 90 artists across multiple stages, along with carnival rides, games, local food vendors and interactive activations.
Riot Fest has become one of Chicago’s signature music festivals since launching in 2005. The festival is known for blending punk, rock, hip-hop, reggae and metal acts with carnival-style attractions and offbeat humor.
The event celebrated its 20th anniversary last year with performances from Green Day, Blink-182, Weezer and Jack White.
The anniversary festival also leaned into one of Riot Fest’s longest running jokes involving John Stamos. Festival organizers spent years teasing a possible appearance by Stamos and his fictional band before finally bringing the actor to the event in 2025.
Tool, Twenty One Pilots, Pierce the Veil, Alanis Morissette, Morrissey among the top acts in Riot Fest lineup
After weeks of Chicagoans collectively asking, “where’s the lineup?” Riot Fest announced full details for its 2026 edition Thursday morning, with Tool, Twenty One Pilots, Pierce the Veil, Alanis Morissette, Morrissey, Iggy Pop, Elvis Costello & The Imposters, Pixies, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio, The All-American Rejects, NAS and Patti Smith & Her Band among the top billing for the festival, which returns to Douglass Park Sept. 18-20.
The Chicago-bred punk/rock/metal gathering notably celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2025, with Mayor Brandon Johnson even providing an official Riot Fest Day proclamation on the final day. Organizers are keeping with the milestone theme this year, promoting the wide array of 100-plus bands as “a lineup that bridges generations — genre-defining icons alongside a new wave of artists carrying the torch forward” as symbolic of the festival’s “decades of iconic acts” that not only span the gamut of ’70s pioneers to modern-day talents, but also mark different eras of the acts playing Riot Fest.

Alanis Morissette, Morrissey, Tool to Headline Riot Fest 2026
Riot Fest, the longtime Chicago music festival centered around punk and rock, has unveiled its 2026 lineup. Alanis Morrisette, Morrissey, Tool, and more will headline, with Patti Smith & Her Band, Santigold, and Elvis Costello & the Imposters also topping the bill. The festival returns to its longtime home of Douglass Park from September 18-20.
The 2026 lineup includes dozens of additional artists: Algernon Cadwallader, Angine de Poitrine, Chat Pile, This Is Lorelei, the Pixies, Melt-Banana, Yard Act, Soul Glo, Jejune, and many more. In total, this year’s edition features over 100 artists (even Insane Clown Posse will be there).
Last year marked the 20th anniversary of Riot Fest. They celebrated the milestone by inviting headliners and bands from past lineups to grace their multi-stage setup, including Blink-182, Green Day, and Weezer.
