Driver dies in collision with suspected impaired motorist near Washington, Bruce
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A driver died after a collision at the intersection of East Washington Avenue and North Bruce Street early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m. when a 1993 Nissan truck was traveling westbound on Washington Avenue and entered the intersection on a yellow traffic signal light at Bruce Street. The Nissan started to make a left turn onto southbound Bruce Street.
A 2015 Ford Mustang was speeding eastbound on Washington Avenue in the left travel lane. The driver failed to slow down and entered the intersection at a high rate of speed as the light turned red, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police said Maria Gonzalez-Medina, 21, of Las Vegas, was driving a 2015 Ford Mustang convertible at an “excessive speed” and that she “failed to decrease speed and use due care” while approaching a yellow light. She entered the intersection as the light turned red, crashing the front of her car into the right side of a 1993 Nissan truck, which had been turning left at the yellow light, police said.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A truck driver is dead and two others are injured following a crash at Washington Avenue and Bruce Street near Downtown Las Vegas.
Metro Police say they received several 911 calls reporting the collision involving a truck and a Ford Mustang shortly after 5:30 Saturday morning.
The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver and a passenger in the Ford Mustang were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
Police say impairment and speed are suspected as contributing factors in the crash.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area for the next several hours as traffic investigators continue their investigation.
