This will be uncharted territory for Amanda Anisimova and Sarah Rakotomanga. For Anisimova, she has no real clue how her ailing wrist will hold up on Monday. She first injured it at the Miami Open in March and has not been seen on a match court since. She has been upping the intensity of her training and practice of late to prepare for this week but as everyone knows: work on the practice court is nothing like playing an actual match.
Then there is Rakotomanga. She made her debut on the WTA Tour last year and, from a standing start with a ranking of No.349, ended the year with the Sao Paulo title and as the No.123 (she is currently ranked No.153). Originally from Madagascar, she now trains in Toulouse and plays under the French flag. And she is fast making her mark.
