Weather Alert: Storms beginning to roll into DC area
Storm Team4’s Doug Kammerer is tracking severe storms with strong winds going through the D.C. area this evening.
Storms are rolling through parts of Frederick, Maryland, and Loudoun, Prince William and Fauquier counties in Virginia. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for those aras, and much of the DMV is under a severe thunderstorm watch. Here's a full list of weather alerts.
Hot weather sizzled D.C. for a third straight day Wednesday. But temps dropped significantly from the 90s to the 80s as storms made their way through the D.C. area about 4:45 p.m.
With shower weather lasting through the night, temperatures will gradually fall to near 60° by Thursday morning. Temperatures will not budge more than a few degrees after that.

FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda says temperatures will push near record highs, making it a day to stay cool and hydrated during any outdoor activities. Morning temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s come with higher humidity, giving the day a more summerlike feel. A cold front approaching the region will bring unsettled weather through the second half of the day and into the end of the week.

Severe thunderstorm watch until 8pm, heatwave ends
A cold front may bring late-day thunderstorms to the DMV, some severe with damaging winds, hail and heavy rain.
WASHINGTON (7News) — The First Alert Weather team is on WEATHER ALERT this evening as a cold front moving in from the west may trigger a few strong to severe storms. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the primary severe weather threats, along with locally heavy rainfall and lightning.
A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect from the D.C. metro to areas along the Pennsylvania state line until 7 p.m. This means the risk for damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail has increased.
