Jamal Crawford has spent recent years balancing his time as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Seattle’s Rainer Beach High School, with his duties as an NBA analyst on NBC.
That’s come amid interest from Mark Pope in adding the former NBA standout to his staff at Kentucky. After that seemingly failed to materialize, it looks as if it could be on once more. Crawford informed Kentucky Sports Radio’s Jack Pilgrim and Jacob Polacheck on Sunday that he is “still considering the offer.”

NBA legend could be Kentucky's X-factor if he joins Mark Pope's coaching staff
Kentucky adding former NBA All-Star Mo Williams to the coaching staff earlier this offseason felt like a promising outreach to improve recruiting efforts. Williams, in addition to bringing his four-star son with him, has since been Mark Pope's second-hand man on the recruiting trail. It'll probably be a year's cycle before we see his full impact, but thus far, the addition seems promising.
Although, Kentucky isn't wasting any time to see if this experiment pays off. According to KSR, the Cats' long-rumored pursuit of NBA legend Jamal Crawford to fill the team's final assistant coach spot hasn't ceased.
And not only that, but Crawford hasn't officially closed the door on the possibility. While he was initially seen as a gateway to Tyran Stokes' recruitment, having coached Stokes, the upside of his potential hiring still clearly appeals to Coach Pope and his regime.
