Update: Thunderstorms with damaging winds and quarter-sized hail in Greene County Wednesday – gusts to hit 60 mph
The National Weather Service issued an updated severe thunderstorm warning at 3:33 p.m. on Wednesday in effect until 3:45 p.m. for Greene County.
The storms may bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail (1 inch).
"At 3:33 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Hundred, or 8 miles northwest of Mannington, moving east at 35 mph," says the weather service. "Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees."
Locations impacted by the warning include Fairview, Hundred, Grant Town, Blacksville, Wadestown, Wana, Metz, Brave, Daybrook, Burton, McCurdyville, Pentress, Earnshaw and Baxter.
The weather service states, "Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail."

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The morning has started decently enough, but some showers will be moving in for the second half of the morning. These showers will be on the weaker side, so an umbrella should be sufficient for any morning errands. However, that will not be the case this afternoon. There will be a brief break in the weather early in the afternoon, giving the atmosphere a modest amount of juice to work with later. Thunderstorms will develop and roll through starting around 2 PM, and a few storms could be strong or severe. Damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour will be the main concern within any severe storms. An isolated bout of medium-sized hail cannot be ruled out either, as strong updrafts are possible within these storms. Tornadic activity is very unlikely this afternoon.

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Thunderstorms will move through NCWV this afternoon after 4:00 PM. Damaging winds are the main threat, but there is a decent amount of wind to organize thunderstorms. If we can get enough sunshine, perhaps some hail from any of the stronger storms. There is also the possibility of some rotation from thunderstorms.
Rain showers move through the area this morning, but should be gone before noon. We’ll get a break from precipitation in the late morning hours and early afternoon. A broken line of thunderstorms will form later this afternoon to our west and move through in the middle of the afternoon. Damaging winds are the main threat. The limiting factor for thunderstorms today will be the lack of higher humidity and temperatures only reaching the upper 60s.
