Why Everton will play a key role in deciding the Premier League table

Everton are 11th in the Premier League, yet they will have a huge say at both ends of the table.
With four games to go, they could still qualify for European football for the first time since 2017. Their games against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will also heavily influence the title race and relegation battle.
So, can David Moyes’ side put a dent in City’s hopes of winning the league? How much do Spurs have to fear on the final day of the season? And what of Everton’s own European dreams?
'This is maybe a year too early for us'
We asked for your views on Everton's chances of qualifying for European football this season, with just four fixtures left for David Moyes' side to stake their claim.
Dan: My heart says yes, let's push for Europe, it is a refreshing tonic to relegation scrambling. But my head is saying, is it such a good thing to be heading into Europe with a stretched squad at such an early stage in our rebuild under Moyes and the Friedkin group? Another season focusing on domestic competitions and building for Europe will surely help us avoid short-term relegation scrambling again.
Tim: I think the last couple of results, while not the final ones, have been substantial nails in the coffin of our European ambition. I don't feel we have a big enough squad for Europe and we STILL need to sort out our striker situation. Next year for sure with some money spent well, but I think this is maybe a year too early for us. Not to take away from the excellent progress we've made, this year and the job David Moyes has done, but Europe this season may be too soon.

Everton Finances 2024/25
Everton’s 2024/25 financial results covered an important season in the club’s recent history, as The Friedkin group (TFG) bought out former owner Farhad Moshiri in December 2024.
This brought some much needed stability after a worrying period that included large financial losses, an ever increasing debt burden and two separate points deductions for breaching the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR).
This was also the final set of accounts before the club moved to its impressive new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
The other significant change last season was the decision to bring back David Moyes as manager, after Sean Dyche was sacked with Everton dangerously close to the drop. The “Moyesiah” steered the club to safety, finishing in a respectable 13th place, thus confirming that the first season of the new stadium would be in the top flight.
