NEW YORK and MUMBAI – LIV Golf, the global golf league blending world-class competition with entertainment and culture to grow the game worldwide, announced today a new broadcast partnership with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI). The agreement will see Sony deliver comprehensive live coverage of the 2026 LIV Golf League season to audiences in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan, and the Maldives, broadcasting across its linear television channels (Sony Sports Network) and premium OTT platform (Sony LIV).

The expectation that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is about to pull its financial backing from LIV entirely has left the breakaway league in an increasingly vulnerable position. The PIF has subsidised LIV to the tune of $5 billion since its launch four years ago – but there have been no guarantees that the lavish support will continue beyond the eight $30 million events left on its 2026 calendar.
Saudi Arabia is shifting its investment strategy from some sporting projects, with the PIF entering a ‘Value Realisation Period’ and emphasising more sustainable investments. PIF governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan said that the Iran war has “added more pressure to reposition some priorities”.
