Vikings Draft Northwestern Tackle Caleb Tiernan with 97th Pick
Minnesota selected former Northwestern offensive lineman Caleb Tiernan with the 97th overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft on Friday night, addressing its offense for the first time after picking former Florida defensive lineman Caleb Banks at 18 on Thursday, former Cincinnati linebacker Jake Golday at 51 and former Iowa State defensive lineman Domonique Orange at 82.
Tiernan is a native of Livonia, Michigan, and was listed on his NFL.com profile at 6-foot-7 5/8 and 323 pounds. He started 43 of 52 games for the Wildcats and switched from right to left tackle for his final three seasons after manning the right flank as a part-time starter in 2022 opposite Peter Skoronski.

For Northwestern offensive linemen, the 2020s have been a huge success in terms of making the NFL. In 2021, Rashawn Slater was selected 13th overall by the Los Angeles Chargers. Two years later, in 2023, Peter Skoronski was taken 11th overall by the Tennessee Titans. Although it would be surprising to hear Caleb Tiernan’s name in Round 1, it should be penciled in that he’s a Day 2 pick, or at the latest, an early Day 3 pick.

Caleb Tiernan won Northwestern's Pro Day by telling the media something that people outside of the NU community just wouldn’t know.
“A lot of people, when they hear Northwestern, they think of nerds, really dorky people," Tiernan said on March 17.
"And trust me if you go to Northwestern, you’re probably really smart, but there’s also a lot of chillers. There’s a lot of guys I’ve done group projects with, where I’m like, dude, you’re kinda like the GOAT.”
