Open Thread: Spurs Fiesta Medals have dropped
Excitement is in the air. For many, many years the Spurs playoff runs have coincided with the annual Fiesta heritage celebration. This year, the Silver & Black are once again making a run into the postseason just as the citywide celebration kicks off. For eleven days a series of festivals, concerts, parades and arts & culture events take up residence throughout San Antonio.
And for the unindoctrinated, the keepsake of the spring festivities are fiesta medals.
This year’s mementos include a tribute to everyone’s favorite mascot, The Coyote. The El Coyote medal is features the varmint in a mariachi sombrero and is adorned with flowers, trumpet, maracas, and a guitar.

Now Spurs fans have something else beyond the team’s return to the playoffs to get excited about.
San Antonio’s beloved NBA team released four Fiesta medals for the 2026 celebration: The Spurs medal, the Coyote medal, the San Antonio Futbol Club (SAFC) medal and the Spurs Fan medal, according to franchise officials.
Proceeds from each medal purchase will fund Spurs Give, Spurs Sports and Entertainment’s (SSE) official nonprofit organization, which supports programming such as the Spurs Youth Basketball League and Play SA.
