LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A tentative agreement has been reached between the Los Angeles Unified School District and the teachers union ahead of a potential strike that could shut down schools.
The district's two-year contract agreement with United Teachers Los Angeles was announced Sunday. It increases salary scales for union members by 11.65% and increases the beginning teacher salary $77,000 a year.
"The flexing of our collective power forced LAUSD to direct significant funding into critical priorities identified by UTLA members in the Win Our Future contract demands," UTLA officials said in a statement posted to Instagram.
