EXCLUSIVE: David Zayas (Dexter, Dexter: Resurrection) and Stephen Bishop (Moneyball, Being Mary Jane) have been cast in key recurring roles in ABC‘s R.J. Decker, the hit drama series inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel Double Whammy.
Scott Speedman stars as RJ Decker, a former newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida. The series follows him tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy woman from his past who could be his greatest ally … or his one-way ticket back to prison.

One of the stars of Dexter: Resurrection has been cast as a major character on the new ABC series R.J. Decker.
R.J. Decker, which is based on Carl Hiaasen's 1987 novel Double Whammy, debuted in early March and stars Grey's Anatomy's Scott Speedman as the titular character and Station 19's Jaina Lee Ortiz as Emi Ochoa. Part of Emi's backstory involves her father, a crooked state senator, getting his daughter to frame R.J. for a crime.
The infamous politician will soon appear on-screen now that David Zayas has joined the cast in a recurring capacity. Deadline reports that the Dexter: Resurrection star will play Emi's father, Victor Ochoa, on R.J. Decker. It hasn't been revealed when the actor will make his debut on the ABC drama, but there are only four episodes left in the freshman season, with the finale set for April 28.
