Touted SS prospect Pratt near 8-year deal with Brewers (report)
MILWAUKEE — Two and a half years after they broke records and reaped benefits with a long-term extension for Jackson Chourio before he’d spent a single day in the Major Leagues, the Brewers are reportedly on the cusp of locking up another top prospect to a long-term deal.
This time it’s an infielder, 21-year-old Cooper Pratt, the Brewers’ No. 4-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline and No. 62 on the overall Top 100. Pratt is closing in on an eight-year contract worth just north of $50 million with two option years for an additional $15 million or so per season, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

The Brewers and prospect Cooper Pratt are reportedly on the verge of finalizing an eight-year contract worth $50.75MM. There will also be two club options worth about $15MM per year, though the value of those options can increase via escalators. The Brewers will need to make a corresponding move to add the Boras Corporation client to their 40-man roster.
It’s a surprising out-of-nowhere extension. Pratt is 21 years old and hasn’t made it to the majors yet. He only just made his Triple-A debut a few days ago. He wasn’t even going to be eligible for the Rule 5 draft until December of 2027.

Brewers reportedly close to signing prospect Cooper Pratt to 8-year, $50M deal
The Milwaukee Brewers are close to signing shortstop Cooper Pratt, their No. 2 prospect, to an eight-year contract extension worth slightly more than $50 million, according to a report by Bob Nightengale of USA Today on March 30.
Pratt, 21, had played just three games above the Class AA level prior to joining Class AAA Nashville late last week for its season-opening series. He's hitting .267 with one run batted in.
The deal is very reminiscent of the one to which Milwaukee inked Jackson Chourio in December 2023, an eight-year, $82 million pact that came after the outfielder had played all of six games at Nashville to that point.
