MLB Top-10 Catchers Right Now 2026: Will Smith Remains Near Top Of List

Will Smith has become a household name in the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse and around the league, becoming a regular on The Shredder rankings of the Top-10 Catchers Right now.

The eighth-year backstop was ranked by MLB Network as the third-best catcher heading into the 2026 season, marking his sixth consecutive year in the top three.

Smith was ranked at No. 2 on this list for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, but has yet to occupy the top spot. That honor went to reigning American League MVP runner-up Cal Raleigh this year, and he was followed by Milwaukee Brewers catcher William Contreras.

Smith is coming off the best season of his career, and the Dodgers are hoping for more of the same in 2026. The right-hander was one of the best and most consistent bats in the entire league throughout the year, hitting .296/.404/.497 with 20 doubles and 17 home runs.

How to watch Dodgers on TV in 2026 with and without cable: Full streaming guide

Opening Day is here. The Dodgers will take on the Diamondbacks at home in Chavez Ravine (hello, Uniqlo Field at Dodger Stadium) at 5:30 PM PST.

Of course, the MLB season offers no shortage of confusion when it comes to actually being able to watch games anywhere other than 1000 Vin Scully Ave. Luckily, Dodgers fans have it easier than most. SportsNet LA has been the faithful home of most of the team's games since 2014. Nationally televised games (and the odd game on … Apple TV+, of all places) will be a little more taxing to find, but we'll try to cover our bases there too.

SportsNet LA now carried by FuboTV

LOS ANGELES — Dodgers games will now be available to watch on FuboTV, thanks to a new carriage agreement with SportsNet LA that begins with the start of the 2026 season.

Opening day for the Dodgers is exclusively televised by NBC Sports, with the first SportsNet LA telecast coming Friday with the second game of the series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium. There are some exclusive national telecasts later in the season that haven’t yet been finalized, but SportsNet LA will televise over 140 games this season.

In 2025, SportsNet LA televised 145 games during the regular season, after 146 games in 2024 and 145 in 2023.
