How long will you wait in TSA lines at PHL for your weekend flight?

Flying out of Philadelphia International Airport this weekend or early next week? you'll likely have a lot of company, and you'll need to prepare for extended TSA wait times.

PHL is considered a Core 30 airport by the Federal Aviation Administration, meaning it is one of the 30 busiest airports in the country. That, along with Fridays being among the busiest air travel days according to OAG Aviation Worldwide Limited, means knowing TSA wait times is more crucial than ever for your travel plans.

According to Philadelphia International Airport's real-time TSA average wait time website, it'll take roughly 30 minutes to pass through TSA security as of Friday morning, March 20.

How to check Philly TSA airport wait times

Travelers flying out of Philadelphia continue to face potentially longer wait times, as security checkpoints remain temporarily closed at three terminals at Philadelphia International Airport.

On March 18, the TSA temporarily closed Terminal A-West and Terminal F security checkpoints “to help optimize operations across other checkpoints,” airport officials announced on social media.

Security checkpoints at Terminal C also remained closed as of Thursday morning.

The three closures come as a result of the TSA staffing problems brought on by the ongoing partial government shutdown, which is now in its 34th day. This shutdown has affected the Department of Homeland Security and hundreds of TSA workers across the country.
