Source: Eagles lose a valuable backup OL to 49ers in free agency

Former Eagles offensive lineman Brett Toth has agreed to terms with the San Francisco 49ers on a one-year deal, according to a league source.

With some lingering questions about the health of their starting offensive line, the Eagles on Tuesday night lost a valuable backup.

Toth, 29, played a significant role for the Eagles in the 2025 season while both left guard Landon Dickerson and center Cam Jurgens battled injuries all year. Toth played in all 17 games in 2025 and made four starts. After playing just 224 offensive snaps in his entire career before last season, Toth played 363 for the Eagles in 2025.

“Do what they tell me to do, be an asset in the locker room, the meeting room,” Toth said before last season about his staying power. “For me, it's been an interesting role. I'm sure you all have seen it over seven years. As a backup, you don't really get set at one position. You just kind of work at the position that's available, whatever they tell you to do. And just be able to kind of pass the culture along to the new guys and just impart whatever wisdom that's been imparted on me over the years.”

Former Eagles OL Brett Toth to sign one-year deal with 49ers

Former Eagles offensive lineman Brett Toth has agreed to a one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers, adding depth to their offensive line ahead of the 2026 season. The Eagles first signed Toth as an undrafted player out of Army in 2019 after he received a military waiver from President Donald Trump. Toth had stints with the Cardinals and Panthers, but he has spent most of his NFL career with the Eagles and under Jeff Stoutland.

A versatile and solid lineman, the 29-year-old played 363 snaps at center and guard, allowing two sacks.
