Chicago Bears to sign DB Cam Lewis
The Chicago Bears are signing former Buffalo Bills defensive back Cam Lewis to a two-year deal, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
During his time in Buffalo, Lewis was a versatile member of the defense having played cornerback, safety and nickel cornerback during his six seasons. With Chicago losing some important pieces in their secondary this offseason, Lewis fills a depth need. He's also a key special teams contributor.
Last season with the Bills, Lewis totaled 43 tackles, including one tackle for loss, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles in 17 games with four starts.
The Bears have holes to fill both at cornerback and safety. Chicago lost cornerback Nahshon Wright, who signed with the New York Jets, and they have a starting job to fill opposite Jaylon Johnson on the outside. Meanwhile, the Bears are poised to lose both starting safeties Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker in free agency. But they did agree to terms with former Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant, who fills one of those roles.
Chicago Bears Sign DB Cameron Lewis to 2-Year Deal
On the opening day of the 2026 free agency legal negotiation period — legal tampering is NOT a thing — the Chicago Bears made a splash signing at safety with the arrival of Coby Bryant. Today, they continue to remodel their depth charts for the back half of their secondary.
Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Bears are signing veteran defensive back Cameron Lewis. It reportedly will be a 2-year deal. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed at the time when this article was published.
Cameron Lewis adds a solid mix of experience and versatility to Dennis Allen’s secondary. Throughout Cam’s career, he has registered starts at safety, nickel, and corner. In all, he has 14 starts out of 76 total career appearances. This includes playing in all 17 games during each of his last 3 seasons with the Buffalo Bills. The Bears are adding defensive backs as fast as they are losing them.
