What LSU's MiLaysia Fulwiley said about playing South Carolina in SEC semifinals

GREENVILLE — MiLaysia Fulwiley is all too familiar with playing basketball in South Carolina.

The LSU junior guard and former Gamecock proved it on March 6. She scored 22 points with eight assists in a 112-78 victory over Oklahoma in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Fulwiley should hope all her familiarity will pay off on March. 7, as the No. 4 seed Tigers (27-4) will take on No.1 seed South Carolina (30-2) in the semifinals (4:30 p.m., ESPN).

"It's the next game, it's a new game for us," Fulwiley said about playing her former team for the second time this season. "Same mindset, got to go out there and do what we need to do."

Gamecocks Set for Top-10 SEC Tournament Semifinal

GREENVILLE, S.C. – No. 3/3 South Carolina will face No. 6/6 LSU on Sat., March 7, in the SEC Tournament semifinals. Tipoff at Bon Secours Wellness Arena is set for 4:30 p.m. with the game airing on ESPN2.

South Carolina is playing in the SEC Tournament semifinals for the seventh-straight season and the 13th time in the last 15 seasons. The Gamecocks are 10-2 in those semifinal contests.

The Gamecocks are 11-2 against ranked opponents this season, including a 4-1 mark against top-10 teams They have a +10.8 scoring margin against those top-10 foes.

All five South Carolina starters average double-figure points against ranked opponents this season. Madina Okot averages a double-double against the nation’s best with 13.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per outing. In her current streak of eight-straight double-doubles, Okot averaged 15.1 points and 13.6 rebounds to go with 2.0 blocks per game. The eight-game stretch included six games against top-25 opponents.

GAMEDAY: South Carolina, LSU meet again with trip to SEC Championship at stake

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WIS) – Two of the SEC’s top teams will meet again Saturday with a spot in the conference title game on the line.

No. 3 South Carolina and No. 6 LSU will square off at 4:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament, held at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville.

The game will air on ESPN 2 and will also be available on the radio at 106.7 FM.

Certified resale tickets are still available through Ticketmaster. Tickets would also include admission to Saturday’s second semifinal game.
