Valerie Bertinelli Says After 2 Marriages, She's 'Never Experienced' Real Love
While looking back on her two divorces in a new interview with People, Valerie Bertinelli made some vulnerable confessions about her love life and revealed that she’s “never really experienced” true love.
The 65-year-old was most recently married to Tom Vitale from 2011 to 2022. Previously, she was married to musician Eddie Van Halen, with whom she welcomed a son in 1991. Van Halen died in 2020 after a battle with cancer.
During the interview, Bertinelli described the impact that her two divorces had on her outlook on love.
“Two divorces behind me, I felt like a failure. I didn’t know what love actually meant, really, real true (love). Ed and I had it for glimpses, but I really never really experienced it for any length of time. And I still haven’t. You know, Ed was the closest I’ve ever come to feeling true true love,” she said.
