Another second-half road collapse for WSU
Once again, the Washington State Cougars couldn’t hold onto a halftime lead and completely collapsed in the second half. In a game they needed to win to keep their hopes alive for that coveted four seed, they were outscored 43-27 in the second half by the Loyola Marymount Lions for a gut-punch 67-66 loss. The loss ends any chance of WSU getting an automatic spot in the WCC tournament quarterfinals.
If you hadn’t watched a game all year and wanted to know the story of this year’s WSU (12-18 overall, 7-10 in conference) team, this game summed it up. Well, at least the road version of this team. LOS ANGELES (AP) Myron Amey Jr.'s 31 points led Loyola Marymount over Washington State 67-66 on Wednesday night.
Amey added six rebounds, five assists, and five steals for the Lions (15-15, 6-11 West Coast Conference). Rodney Brown Jr. scored 16 points while shooting 7 for 18, including 2 for 9 from beyond the arc. Jan Vide shot 4 of 16 from the field to finish with 10 points.
Aaron Glass finished with 20 points for the Cougars (12-18, 7-10). Eemeli Yalaho added 12 points and nine rebounds for Washington State. Rihards Vavers finished with 12 points.
Amey scored 11 points in the first half and Loyola Marymount went into the break trailing 39-24. Amey scored 20 points down the stretch in the second half to help lead Loyola Marymount to a one-point victory.

Washington State Blows Late Lead at Loyola Marymount, Drops Second Straight Game
Washington State's rough string of road results continued on Wednesday as the Cougars dropped a 67-66 result against Loyola Marymount.
The Cougars have now lost ten of 11 true road games this season. The loss was also the second in a row for WSU. Their record falls to 12-18 overall with a 7-10 mark in West Coast Conference play.
Ace Glass led the Cougars in scoring with 20 points. Eemeli Yalaho came one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 12 points and nine rebounds.
The loss made a tough week even tougher for David Riley's group. The Cougars were again without forward Emmanuel Ugbo, who was officially suspended for the remainder of the season earlier this week.
