UPDATED: Power outages reported across the Northland
Power outages are being reported across the Northland as heavy winds, ice and snow hit the region.
As of 8:30 p.m., Lake Country Power is reporting 26 outages impacted more than 2,100 customers.
Minnesota Power is reporting 22 active outages, affecting around 2,400 customers. Crews are out working on the issue.
Superior Water Light & Power reports three active outages as of 8:30 p.m.
“With line crews and equipment positioned and ready to respond, Minnesota Power is prepared for the significant winter storm predicted for northern Minnesota tonight and Wednesday,” said a representative from Minnesota Power.

FIRST ALERT: Heavy snow and strong winds tonight
AFTERNOON/TONIGHT: This afternoon we will continue to see very breezy winds. In fact, the winds will only get strong into this evening. Wintry mix showers will start this afternoon, but the bulk of it will be after 6pm. Rain, snow, sleet, and freezing rain will be possible. This could lead to a layer of ice on hard surfaces. Our far southern counties will see mostly rain and some mix through the overnight hours. Winds will be gusting out of the east up to 55mph tonight with temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Blizzard conditions will develop up the North Shore tonight, making travel difficult to impossible.
