The Big Cut: Qatar Airways Slashes London Flights For Spring 2026

Each week, airlines submit schedule changes to Cirium Diio, OAG, and other data providers. In the latest update, Qatar Airways disclosed several changes to its global network. For example, it has suspended flights to Aleppo and reduced services to London, Manchester, Peshawar, San Francisco, Sialkot, Venice, etc.

This article will focus entirely on changes to Qatar Airways' London operation. It is important to note that fellow oneworld member and close partner British Airways effectively serves Doha on the Qatari carrier's behalf. No changes are coming to BA's offering, with Doha far from being in that carrier's ten longest routes list.

Qatar Airways Reduces Flights to These 3 European Cities

DOHA— Qatar Airways (QR) has filed schedule updates that reduce service on several European routes, signaling a measured approach to capacity deployment during the 2026 season. The changes appear in recent filings to Cirium and are already reflected in the airline’s booking systems, affecting key city pairs across Western and Central Europe.

The adjustments impact London Gatwick Airport (LGW), Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE), and Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), while the carrier maintains a robust presence at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). Qatar Airways continues to prioritize network stability as it balances aircraft availability, demand patterns, and competitive dynamics across its long-haul portfolio.

Travellers urged to check flights as major airline reduces UK routes

Qatar Airways is decreasing flights between London and Doha by 14%(Image: GETTY)

Qatar Airways has revealed a significant reduction to its London services, set to take effect from the start of May this year. The international carrier had previously scheduled 951 departures between Doha and London for the April to June period, but this has now been scaled back to just 818 flights.

This 14% reduction will impact both Heathrow and Gatwick airports, with shifts in demand and operational factors cited as the main reasons behind the cutback. The airline is also reportedly planning further reductions to its London services between July and October, though this decrease is anticipated to be more modest at around 3% to 5%.
