U.S. cuts ties with Polish speaker of parliament over 'insults' against Trump
WARSAW, Poland — The U.S. ambassador to Poland said on Thursday that the United States will have “no further dealings, contacts, or communications” with Włodzimierz Czarzasty, the speaker of the lower house of the Polish parliament, over what Rose called “outrageous and unprovoked insults directed against President Trump.”
Amb. Tom Rose did not specify what those alleged insults were, but Czarzasty had issued a public statement on Monday in which he said he would not support an initiative of his Israeli and American counterparts to nominate U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Czarzasty is one of the leaders of a left-wing party in the liberal government led by Donald Tusk.

The diplomatic row comes after Sejm speaker Czarzasty said Donald Trump didn't "deserve" the Nobel Peace Prize. Poland is one of the US' closest allies in Europe and lies on NATO's eastern flank.
The United States' ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose, said he was cutting all contact with Wlodzimierz Czarzasty, the speaker of the country's lower house of parliament, known as the Sejm.
Rose accused Czarzasty of making "outrageous and unprovoked insults directed against [US President Donald Trump]."
Warsaw is one of the US' closest allies in Europe and has one of the highest military budgets as a percentage of GDP within the US-led NATO military alliance.
