Brooklyn Nets broadcaster Tim Capstraw raised eyebrows on Monday night when he made a doppelganger comparison for Phoenix Suns guard Grayson Allen.
The YES Network broadcast showed Allen early in the second quarter as Phoenix was leading Brooklyn 45-28. Capstraw said that Allen looked like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

The Phoenix Suns were in Brooklyn on Monday night to play the Nets. And Nets analyst Tim Capstraw gave voice to what we’ve all been thinking for years – Grayson Allen is a doppelganger for a young Ted Cruz.
Capstraw just reached a personal milestone of calling 2,000 consecutive Nets games. Usually he’s working on the radio side, but last night he was on the YES Network television broadcast alongside Ryan Ruocco.
And after a foul was called, Capstraw had the perfect opportunity to make the comparison.

Nets Announcer Draws Unusual Comparison While Talking About Grayson Allen
Grayson Allen had been in some fine form this year. Playing for the Phoenix Suns, the 30-year-old is currently averaging 16.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. He dropped some pretty solid performances against the likes of the Pelicans back in November last year.
Recently, playing against the Nets, Allen was once again in his usual element. As the Suns won 126-117, Allen chipped in with 14 points, eight assists, and three rebounds. Apart from the numbers, his towering presence in the middle for 30 minutes also made things tough for the Nets.
However, one particular observation from the Nets’ announcer caught the attention of the internet. As a close-up of Allen was shown, the announcer compared his looks to those of Ted Cruz.
