Darius Acuff and Meleek Thomas lead Arkansas basketball into road game at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. — Lamont Paris entered the Bud Walton Arena media room, impressed with the Arkansas men’s basketball team’s performance and dejected by that of his South Carolina Gamecocks.

The coach complimented the No. 17 Razorbacks for their showing while making sure all who listened knew he was upset with the Gamecocks.

Arkansas’ performance was — as it often has been — spurred by its freshman duo of Darius Acuff and Meleek Thomas.

Thomas scored 21 points while shooting 8 for 9 from the field with 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Acuff had 18 points and 13 assists.

The duo led Arkansas to a 108-74 win over South Carolina, a game that could have been worse if it had not ended on a 9-0 Gamecocks run against the Razorbacks' reserves.
