Video: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch 2 Edition vs. Switch comparison

A new video comparison has come in for the new Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and its Switch original.

Probably the biggest here is load time improvements. On Nintendo Switch 2, loading is reduced by about half.

Elsewhere, things are mostly the same. Nintendo hasn’t touched up the graphics in any way, and unfortunately, it’s still 30 frames per second on Nintendo Switch 2. The one area with an improvement is with resolution – now the game runs at 1080p in portable mode and 4K when docked.

Have a look at the Animal Crossing: New Horizons Nintendo Switch vs. Switch 2 comparison below.

Kapp'n has a surprise in store for Animal Crossing players in the 3.0 update

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons 3.0 update brought several elements of new content to the game, perhaps the biggest of which is a hotel on the dock run by Kapp'n's family. Though players have learned many of the hidden details of the update already, one impactful change doesn't become apparent until players have progressed fairly far into the new content: Kapp'n now offers two of his Boat Tours a day instead of one.

Kapp'n and his Boat Tours can potentially be a gold mine for players, especially when it comes to acquiring materials. While some islands the sea turtle takes players to will be very reminiscent of Nook Islands, he can also take them to a myriad of rare islands — some are set in different seasons and full of seasonal materials, like cherry blossoms or mushrooms, while others are covered in things like star fragments. As it has evolved, New Horizons has introduced other currencies alongside bells and Nook Miles, the newest of which is Hotel Tickets, which are earned by helping decorate rooms in the new hotel and completing the DIY requests posted on the dock.
