Andreeva's dog, Rassy, could make season debut in Dubai

Mirra Andreeva's dog, Rassy, didn't make the trip to Australia with the World No. 8. But the adorable pup might accompany her to the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships in February.

One of the highlights — perhaps the highlight? — of Mirra Andreeva's offseason was getting a dog, Rassy.

It had been a long time coming, as the 18-year-old had been promised a dog by her mom if she reached the Top 20 of the PIF WTA Rankings. Andreeva broke into the Top 20 way back in October of 2024, but it was more than a year later until she got the adorable pup.

A year older and a year wiser, Andreeva brings renewed mindset into 2026

After an incredible start to the 2025 season, Mirra Andreeva struggled to maintain her dominance in the second half of the year. The 18-year-old learned from that experience, and she's brought a fresh mindset to Australia.

It was one of those runs that's just hard to wrap your head around.

Over the course of one magical month last year, Mirra Andreeva — then 17 — won 12 straight matches to take back-to-back WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells, catapulting her to No. 6 in the PIF WTA Rankings and establishing her as a legitimate star on the WTA Tour Driven by Mercedes-Benz.

She played solid tennis the rest of the year — including runs to the French Open and Wimbledon quarterfinals — but did fall back down to Earth, going 22-13 after Indian Wells and not winning another title. She also failed to qualify for the WTA Finals after looking like a shoo-in earlier in the year.
