Authorities find body of 4-year-old Alabama boy missing since New Year's Eve
The body of Johnathan Everett Boley, a 4-year-old boy who went missing in Alabama on New Year's Eve, has been found, authorities announced in a press conference on Friday afternoon.
“We have located Johnathan, and Johnathan is deceased,” Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith told reporters.
The boy’s father, Jameson Kyle Boley, has been arrested on a separate explosives-related charge and has been charged with two counts of chemical endangerment of a child, according to court records.
The child had last been seen at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday near Highway 195, in a wooded and rural area of Jasper, Alabama, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Jasper is a small city located about 40 miles northwest of Birmingham.
Body of missing 4-year-old Walker County boy located
WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — The body of a missing 4-year-old Walker County boy was located.
During a news conference Friday afternoon, Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith said the body of Johnathan Everett Boley was discovered about two miles from his home.
"Johnathan was an adventurous boy and he loved the outdoors," said Smith.
Smith said the dog Boley was believed to have been with was alive and still with him when he was discovered.
Authorities said Boley was last seen on December 31 around 11:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of Highway 195 in Jasper.
Volunteers and authorities spent the last couple of days searching for Boles. Smith announced the child's father had been arrested in connection with the investigation after explosives were located at his residence.
