Kilmar Abrego Garcia speaks for the first time after release from federal immigration custody.
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin on Saturday took aim at Kilmar Abrego Garcia for "making TikToks" while DHS remains constrained by an "activist judge."
McLaughlin was reacting to a minute-long video that appears to show Abrego Garcia, an El Salvadoran illegal immigrant who became a flashpoint in the Trump administration’s mass deportation campaign, filming himself lip-syncing to a song in Spanish.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s Viral Video of Biblical Song Angers DHS
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS)'s Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin voiced her anger on social media over Kilmar Abrego Garcia "making TikToks" while the department remains under "gag order by an activist judge."
Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran man who was mistakenly deported from the United States by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), had released a video of him lip syncing to the Spanish song "Himno de Victoria," or "Hymn of Victory," by Danny Berrios.
McLaughlin wrote in a post on X: "So we, at @DHSgov, are under gag order by an activist judge and Kilmar Abrego Garcia is making TikToks. American justice ceases to function when its arbiters silence law enforcement and give megaphones to those who oppose our legal system."
