La Salle at No. 2 Michigan College Basketball Preview

Michigan Basketball is not going to fall asleep during the holidays any longer. Here’s our preview of today’s game vs La Salle at Crisler Center:

After CMU in 2022-23 and McNeese in 2023-24, the Michigan Wolverines are unlikely to overlook the Christmastime buy games anytime soon. This squad, specifically, is extremely locked in right now, sitting No. 1 overall in Kenpom and routinely crushing opponents by 25-plus. The only thing that can cause a problem on Sunday is an overwhelming lack of focus, and Dusty May is not about that.

The La Salle Explorers are not good. Outside the top 250 in Kenpom, none of their four wins have come against anyone meaningful, and double-digit losses to Penn State and Villanova paint a picture of what to expect. Garbage time should come early in this contest, which may relieve some of the landslide, but another 100-point effort and 40-point final margin are well within reach.

No. 2-ranked Michigan basketball returns to Crisler Center for Kids Day showdown vs. La Salle

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team, ranked second nationally with a 10-0 record, returns to Crisler Center to close out 2025 with a special Kids Day game against La Salle.

The event is part of a doubleheader, with the sixth-ranked Michigan women’s basketball team played Oakland University, winning 97-54.

The women’s game featured the first 750 fans receiving a free set of two coasters.

The men’s game will include kid-friendly activities, special in-game promotions, and bonus loyalty points for Wolverine Kids Club members who check in.

Michigan men’s and women’s basketball teams join forces for a full day of Maize & Blue energy at Crisler Center, offering fans a festive holiday hoops experience.

Game 11: La Salle at Michigan Preview

Michigan hosts La Salle on Sunday (4:00 p.m., Peacock/NBCSN) before heading home for Christmas. The Explorers are the worst team on Michigan’s schedule — 264th in KenPom and 4-8 on the season against the 215th toughest schedule — but have several connections to Ann Arbor.

First-year La Salle head coach Darris Nichols not only played for John Beilein at West Virginia, but also was an assistant coach alongside Dusty May during their time at Louisiana Tech and Florida under Mike White. In another fun fact, Nichols has actually coached as an assistant coach against Michigan twice in the NCAA Tournament over the last decade — at Wofford in 2014 and Florida in 2019.
