FC Barcelona squad named for La Liga match against Villarreal

The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana play their final game of 2025 against Villarreal in a massive La Liga away test, and Hansi Flick has called up the following 21 players for Saturday’s clash:

Defenders: 3. Alejandro Balde, 5. Pau Cubarsí, 18. Gerard Martín, 23. Jules Kounde, 24. Eric Garcia, 26. Jofre Torrents

Midfielders: 16. Fermín López, 17. Marc Casadó, 21. Frenkie de Jong, 22. Marc Bernal, 27. Dro Fernández, 43. Tommy Marqués

Forwards: 7. Ferran Torres, 9. Robert Lewandowski, 10. Lamine Yamal, 11. Raphinha, 14. Marcus Rashford, 28. Roony Bardghji

There’s some bad news for this one as Pedri has a muscle issue and has been left out of the squad as a precaution while Andreas Christensen was a last-minute scratch due to what is reportedly a knee injury suffered in Saturday’s training session, and they join Dani Olmo (shoulder) and Gavi (knee) on the injured list while Ronald Araujo remains away from the team for mental health reasons.

Villarreal vs. Barcelona: Preview, Predictions and Lineups

La Liga leaders Barcelona visit third-placed Villarreal on Sunday afternoon in one of the biggest games of the season so far in Spain’s top flight.

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona have rebounded admirably since losing to Real Madrid in October’s Clásico. The Catalans have won seven straight in La Liga since and are now sitting four points clear of Los Blancos in the summit of the division.

Villarreal are not far behind, though, winning six straight to climb to third in the standings. Marcelino’s side are eight points back of Barcelona, but with two games in hand, they could easily jump Real Madrid in second and a victory on Sunday could put them in position to leapfrog the defending champions.
