6A DI State Championship Preview: Duncanville (12-1) vs. Galena Park North Shore (13-2)
Duncanville (12-1) vs. Galena Park North Shore (13-2), 3 p.m. Saturday at Arlington’s AT&T Stadium
For the sixth time since 2018, Duncanville and North Shore meet to determine supremacy in the state’s largest classification. North Shore took the first three matchups in 2018, 2019 and 2021, but Duncanville has won the last two in 2022 and 2023.
This year’s matchup doesn’t have the pop it’s had in years past because both teams had their share of struggles during the season, but both have shown championship DNA as they are playing their best football at the right time.
Duncanville’s lethal defense absolutely dominated Allen last week in a 31-9 win. The Panthers held Allen to just 49 yards rushing and constantly harassed the Allen QB with their ferocious pass rush.
All-American Trenton Yancey overcame being shot to lead Duncanville back to state final
DUNCANVILLE — Duncanville four-star wide receiver Trenton Yancey won’t be fazed if he faces any adversity in Saturday’s Class 6A Division I state championship game against Galena Park North Shore at AT&T Stadium.
He has already survived the darkest moment of his life, as he got shot this summer.
Yancey spent a couple of days in the hospital in July after being shot in the arm. He wouldn’t discuss details of the incident, but he still has a big scar as a reminder.
“It was scary,” Yancey said Thursday. “It was my biggest fear, just being hit by a stray bullet. Most people wouldn’t know how to react to it, but I feel like I was very calm in the moment. I’m still here. That’s the biggest thing.”

Football Game Preview: Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes vs. North Shore Mustangs
Two dominant signal callers in Maximus The Great Denson and Kaleb Maryland are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Duncanville Panthers and Pantherettes will take on the North Shore Mustangs in a holiday battle at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Duncanville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They blew past Allen 31-9. The Panthers and Pantherettes are really starting to get used to good results now that the team has won 11 straight.
Trenton Yancey had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 102 yards and two TDs on only seven carries, while also picking up 30 receiving yards. Ayson Theus did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 114 receiving yards.
