Virginia Union RB Curtis Allen a worthy candidate as Division II’s top player

Allen is a finalist for the Harlon Hill Award, given to the player of the year in D-II football

Editor’s note: Curtis Allen was named the winner of the Harlon Hill Award today (Dec. 19), the first HBCU winner of the award given to Division II’s top player. He’s the first running back to win the award since 2013.

As the head coach of the leading rusher in NCAA Division II football, Virginia Union’s Alvin Parker admits to his bias leading up to Friday’s announcement of the Harlon Hill Award.

But Parker’s partisanship aside, when he looks at what the trophy stands for there’s no doubt his guy — Curtis Allen — should be named the winner.
