Erling Haaland's girlfriend complains about his love for football as Man City star insists on watching rivals Man United after dinner at Cheshire home

Erling Haaland's long-term girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen has hilariously complained about his love for football after the Manchester City star insisted on watching Manchester United after dinner at their home in Cheshire.

The Manchester City striker, 25, and his partner Johansen, 22, are believed to have first met during their mutual time spent in the ranks of Byrne's youth teams in their native Norway.

Johansen became a regular fixture on the sidelines amid Haaland's move to the Etihad at the start of the 2022-23 season, and the pair welcomed their first child, a son, together last December.

But despite their long-lasting connection, Haaland was unafraid to admit that there were moments in their relationship were they might not have exactly shared the same viewpoint.

🧐 Haaland’s hot take: He’s clearly on his own with this VAR opinion

Ronaldinho, Bale, and Neymar, aside from their outstanding athletic abilities, have one thing in common: they all have – more or less explicitly – stated that watching football, as opposed to playing it themselves, doesn't bring them much joy. Therefore, outside of their own games, they hardly engage with other leagues and teams – at least not for pleasure in their free time.

City superstar Erling Haaland seems to be the complete opposite. In the podcast ‘The Rest Is Football‘, he revealed that this sometimes even leads to disagreements with his partner Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

When co-host Alan Shearer asked how often he follows football matches aside from his own performances and whether he analyzes them, the 25-year-old Norwegian replied: "Yes, I am a football fan – so I watch all kinds of football."

"My wife complained to me: 'I'm so sick of football'"

In the podcast "The Rest Is Football", Erling Haaland talks about his childhood, the move to Manchester City, the role of Pep Guardiola – and why simple goals make him the happiest.

Erling Haaland once again set a Premier League record in Manchester City's 5-4 win over Fulham at the beginning of December, scoring his 100th league goal in his 111th appearance. Alan Shearer previously needed 124 league appearances to score the anniversary goal, while Harry Kane needed 141 games to score his 100th goal in England's top flight.

The City superstar was a guest on the podcast "The Rest Is Football". Host Gary Lineker wants to know from the Norwegian how he felt when he snatched the record from his co-host Shearer: "Of course I had known for some time that it was possible to break the 100-goal mark," said Haaland. Otherwise, he doesn't think much about records, he only knows one: the mark of 260 goals in the Premier League – which is (still) held by Shearer.
