LECANTO, Fla. — Lecanto High School faculty and students had a very special guest on Friday — alumni and actor, Miles Teller.

In a packed auditorium at Lecanto High School, the current crop of Panthers students welcome Teller home.

Teller returned to his alma mater for a student assembly to celebrate the naming of the school’s theater in his own name.

“I guess it was nice to know I’m still popular with the youth,” Teller said.

Teller walked out to thundering applause on the very stage he once performed on as a student at Lecanto High School. And now, 20 years later, it has been named in his honor.

LECANTO, Fla. — Famed actor and Tampa Bay-area native Miles Teller is making a stop at his Citrus County alma mater on Friday.

The "Top Gun: Maverick" and "Whiplash" star is making a stop at Lecanto High School, where he graduated in the class of 2005.

Teller spoke with Citrus County Live in late November and discussed that he will be speaking to students at the Curtis Peterson auditorium about how his start at the school shaped his path to success.

"That's where it really all started for me," he said. "Some of my fondest memories are getting up there and doing plays."

The Miles Teller Theatre: Lecanto High School Celebrates a Panther Returning Home

Renowned actor and proud Lecanto High School alumnus, Miles Teller, returns home to celebrate the dedication of the Miles Teller Theatre.

CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Lecanto High School held a special assembly on Friday Dec. 5, 2025, to celebrate the dedication of the Miles Teller Theatre. The renowned actor and celebrated LHS alumnus, was welcomed back to the place where it all began.

As the Panther drumline took the stage to play a celebratory rhythm, LHS students and drama students from several surrounding schools, community leaders, and Teller’s family and friends filled the Curtis Peterson Auditorium with anticipation.

The assembly began with a warm welcome by Dr. Scott Hebert, superintendent of Citrus County Schools. “His journey to success began in the classrooms, on the baseball field, and right here in this theatre. Obviously, Miles has incredible talent, but his success is also a testament to his teachers and to the value of public education in Citrus County. From this day on, this theatre, where Miles first started acting will now be named the Miles Teller Theatre.” announced Dr. Hebert.
