Lakers' Luka Doncic announces birth of second daughter

Luka Doncic announced the birth of his second child — a daughter, Olivia — on Instagram on Saturday morning.

Doncic, who missed the Los Angeles Lakers' last two games for "personal reasons," had been away from the team and back in his hometown of Ljubljana, Slovenia, to be with his fiancée, Anamaria Goltes, for the delivery, sources told ESPN.

Lakers coach JJ Redick said Friday before a 126-105 loss to the Boston Celtics that it was possible Doncic will be back with the team as soon as Sunday in Philadelphia for its game against the 76ers.

The Lakers went 1-1 in Doncic's absence. They have an off day Saturday after a back-to-back on Thursday and Friday in Toronto and Boston.

Luka Dončić and fiancée Anamaria Goltes welcomed the birth of their second daughter this week, the Lakers superstar announced on his Instagram account Saturday.

Dončić had not played in the Lakers’ last two games, as he was in Ljubljana, Slovenia, to be with Goltes for the birth of Olivia, ESPN reported.

The two — who got engaged in the summer of 2023 — received plenty of congratulatory comments on their Instagram post, including from the Lakers and LeBron James, who commented “Congrats Brate!” on the post.

Dončić, a five-time All-Star, is in his first season with the Lakers after a blockbuster trade from the Mavericks last season. In 16 games, he’s averaging a league-leading 35.3 points a night with 8.9 assists and 8.9 rebounds.
